The Write to Heal Project (501c3)

There is a crisis unfolding in our communities that statistics alone cannot fully capture — children carrying the invisible weight of poverty, bullying, broken homes, and violence, with no safe place to process the pain they were never given language to describe. The Write to Heal Project exists because writing is one of the most powerful healing instruments ever placed in human hands. It gives a child the ability to externalize what lives inside, to see their own story on a page, and to discover they are not alone. Founded by Yvonne Camper — a Biblical Studies graduate, a 35-year healthcare professional, and a mother who has personally walked through a child's eating disorder, physical abuse, and depression — Write to Heal is built on one unshakeable conviction: healing is possible, and it often begins with a pen.

Our methodology is structured, trauma-informed, and community-driven. We partner with city officials, police departments, schools, and social services to identify and enroll at-risk youth ages 8–18 in a 12-week cohort program. Each weekly session follows four steps — Open Circle (emotional check-in), Teach (a lesson on identity, coping, or self-worth), Write (guided journaling), and Share (optional peer reading) — across four creative pillars: journaling, creative writing, blogging, and podcasting. Police liaisons participate in orientations and quarterly reviews, building trust between youth and law enforcement in a relationship-first environment.

Write to Heal is not just a program — it is a partnership with a city's most vulnerable future leaders. When a child learns to write through pain, they develop resilience, self-awareness, and the belief that their story has value. Our collaboration with city officials and law enforcement positions Write to Heal as both a healing tool and a prevention strategy — reducing behavioral incidents and giving first responders a compassionate resource to offer families in crisis. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we invite your city, your department, and your heart to join us. Because when children learn to write their pain, they stop becoming it. Our board consists of a Faith leader with 40+ years of experience, a Retired Naval Captain and RN, a recent graduate of Oral Roberts University with a degree in Psychology.  A principal of a charter school with a undergratudate degree in English and a Master's in Education from Pepperdine, and the owner of Quiverfull PUblishing & Media.

The Write to Heal Project

Your gift also funds something that extends far beyond the session room — it is an investment in public safety, community health, and the next generation. Through partnerships with city officials, police departments, schools, and social services, Write to Heal enrolls at-risk youth ages 8–18 in a structured, trauma-informed 12-week program that moves each child from crisis to expression through journaling, creative writing, blogging, and podcasting.

By equipping children with emotional vocabulary before a crisis escalates, your contribution helps reduce behavioral incidents, supports first responders with a proactive resource for families in crisis, and breaks cycles that would otherwise cost cities far more in emergency intervention. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, every contribution is tax-deductible and directed entirely toward program delivery — because when children learn to write their pain, they stop becoming it.
