I believe one of the greatest revivals is in full swing. It’s not in the church but in the Marketplace, which is why I believe the Lord has saturated the realm of enterprise with such gifted and anointed people as you. The term Marketplace Prophet has become extremely popular over the last few years, but I did not hear it until I quit my corporate job seven years ago. I believe when the church realized everyone was not called to work within the four walls an anointing swept the business realm and people began to feel a new fervor about what they were doing outside of the church. They were no longer clamoring to be pastors, deacons, elders, evangelists, or ushers. You see more church leaders starting businesses now than ever.
At my corporate job, I worked with a woman who I will never forget; her indelible presence still ripples through my mind. Her name was Patty Harvey, she was vocal about her Christianity, but she was also passionate about her work. She was a C-suite professional and at every staff meeting, I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit. I felt empowered, refreshed, and invigorated in my professional endeavors. As passionate as she was about her work, she was equivalently as passionate about her faith, and she did not hide it.
The marketplace, according to Ed Silvosio, The author of, Anointed for Business, is Education, Business Enterprise, and Politics, it’s where the people are. The name Jeremiah Lanphier is not familiar, but that doesn’t lessen his impact. He was an out-of-work tradesman in New York City during the Stock Market panic in 1857. He went to go work at a church as an evangelist although his passion was still in the marketplace. Instead of going door to door, he decided to launch a noon-time prayer for the business sector. To his surprise, it turned into a movement and led to a reported 1 million souls being saved from 1857-1858
If we look at the life of Jesus, He was rarely in the church, and in one account they were incensed by his message and attempted to through him over a cliff. But the passage says, “And he slipped right through them,” (Luke 4:29-30). The church and the religious leaders did not receive him, but the masses loved him, thronged him, and followed his ministry. I encourage you to be passionate about what you are doing. Your accomplishments matter. Every encounter is an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
Cameron King, the lead pastor of Newsong Church in Atlanta said, “These prophets will identify opportunities and solutions by the insight of the Spirit. Their eyes will be opened to niche markets that need to be filled. They’ll have upward mobility in larger corporations and institutions because of prophetic words that’ll be offered as solutions to current and diverse problems their unique business is facing.” Read the entire blog
