THE FINISHING SEASON

This article was first written in 2011 but as I was reading it again I realized how applicable it is for today.

The instruction of the finishing season is letting go of those things and people God has commanded. The stench of dead flesh cannot enter your next dimension. This year will be a season of great productivity. This year will open the gates of prosperity (emotional, financial and spiritual). Prosperity is not only about emptying your pockets and laying them on an altar waiting for God to bless you. Many are not prospering because they refuse to tap into the wealth that is within them. We are no longer to live in poverty conducting religious activity. I want to clarify I believe in tithing and giving and do both. In this season of my life it is important for me not to sow into fallow ground which does not produce!

Pastor Gary Kessee said, “He and his wife were in debt, being sued and lost their home but God gave them a business idea in a dream. When they implemented what God had shown them, within two years, they were debt free. The next wave of ministry success is not off the backs of God’s people but from witty inventions and business ideas (Proverbs 8:12 KJV). God is opening spiritual and natural wombs and annihilating the spirit of bareness. Inventions, business ideas, songs and books that have laid on the dusty shelves of your past are being resurrected. Stop giving away for free what God has given you to prosper.

Driving on the freeway one morning I saw the same car that I saw two days prior. You couldn’t mistake it because the back window was broken. The Spirit of the Lord spoke to me and said, “Just because things look familiar doesn’t mean you are in the same place.” I want to encourage you that you have not lost ground in this season but in fact you are picking up momentum. You can enter the promised land if you meet all the requirements.

I am sharing below the instruction that God gave me:

DEAL WITH OFFENSE–Psalms 119:65 says, “Great peace have them that love the law and nothing will offend them.” Offense produces a bitter and unforgiving spirit. It keeps you attached to people who do not deserve the right to be in your life. God wants you to prosper as your soul prospers but your soul cannot prosper in a state of offense. Be courageous enough not just to ask God to search you, but to allow him search you! No guards. No protecting. No defenses.

BELIEVE GOD–Abraham believed God and did not waiver at the promise God gave him. He was fully persuaded God would do everything he said (Romans 4:20). Because he believed God righteousness was added to his spiritual account. Believing God requires we not only believe in Him but also in what His word says. Faith is not standing on the promises of God. Faith is putting the promises of God into action.

RESIST THE TEMPTATION TO JUDGE–Galatians 6:1 says, “You being spiritual restore such a one lest you also be tempted.” The epidemic of failing ministers and falling churches is on the rise. Do not only pray for their ministry to be restored. Pray they don’t lose their souls. Paul said in I Corinthians 9:27, “… So that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.”

REFUSE TO LOOK BACK–Jesus replied, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God (Luke 6:92).” Your mistakes can no longer decide the altitude in which you fly. If you have truly repented everything is under the blood. The sin debt has already been paid. The Bible does not say Lot and his wife did not contribute to the debauchery of Sodom and Gomorrah. Lot pitched his tent just outside the gates. His wife perished because she looked back, peradventure, not in curiosity but still desiring the life she was leaving. Sin is gratifying to our flesh and sometimes we refuse to let it go. God’s word says, the wages of sin is death and confirms there is a real hell. Matthew 7:13-14 reminds us wide is the road that leads to destruction and narrow is the road that leads to eternal life. You choose! The challenge now is not fighting sin but breaking the cycles of sin. The word encourages us not to be entangled again in the yokes of bondage.
